The Sun’s 2019 Alumni Workshop

The Sun wanted to share a few photos from our annual Alumni Workshop. This year’s workshop took place on Oct. 19. We had 22 alums made their way down to Ithaca and, thanks to the hard work of Ben Eisen ’10 and Jay Branegan ’72, we saw the highest alum attendance we have ever had at this event.

A few alums and some of the editors on the current editorial board (the 137) had dinner on Friday, Oct. 18 to kick-off the weekend. The next morning began with a compet workshop led by Jay Branegan. We then proceeded into article critiques where staff and editors were broken up into four groups to get individualized feedback on articles they submitted. After a short break for lunch and some unstructured networking, students had 100 minutes to travel across the eight break-out sessions available. Sessions included a photography session, a multimedia session and opinion and First Amendment rights session. Throughout the day we saw over 120 Sunnies make their way through the doors of 139 W. State Street. The alums wrapped up the workshop with a question-and-answer session. The undergraduates had so many learning opportunities and are grateful for the time and effort that went into the event.
